A world away compared to Amish people

I am comparing the book "A World Away" and the poem "Amish People" by Caryl Muzzey. In the poem it says, "without consulting their church councilmen" it is saying without judging their religion this reminds me of when people would come to Eliza's home and they would judge her and her family just because of what they believe in and the way their life style is. Also in the poem it says, "everyone lives by their church faith." I think that is powerful because people try changing people religion and this line  is saying live by what you believe in you shouldn't let anyone change what you believe in.

A world away (different life style)

Eliza was only six teen years old. She didn't do a lot of things that other teenagers did. She never made a phone call or tried a pairs on pants on or even went the movie theater. Her childhood was nothing like mine or anyone I know she never went to the park or the zoo or anything fun to do with your family. She has never talked to someone that is her own age who isn't Amish. I think that being Amish would be very different. I would like to visit an Amish home to see how it is. It would be a very different life style because if I was Amish I would be a total different person. But I would love to visit an Amish home to see the way they live and the food they eat.

A world away

I was reading a book called "A World Away" its about a Amish girl her name is Eliza. She want to see the world outside her home. One she turn 16 she will have her rumspringa. A "rumspringa" is once you turn 16 you can go out and explore. One night they were having people over so they can see how the Amish girl Rachel asked what Eliza was going to do for her rumspringa. Eliza's mom answered and said that she will be staying home and that she will not be going out to explore. Eliza wanted to go and see the modern world she did not want to stay home. In the book it says,"When we choose to be different, we have to expect a little attention." This is saying that she started to get attention because she was different and she wanted to go out to explore and not listen to her mother.

Jane Goodall

A Part that is confusing to me is that they never really said why she wanted to work with the gorillas. It only says that when she was little that her parents gave a big stuffed animal and they thought she was going to be scared of it. They were surprised when she was in love with it. In the book it says, "Friends of the family predicted the the hairy toy, almost bigger than Jane, would terrify her, but Jane was delighted with jubilee, and he became her constant companion." This means that she fell in love with the big animal. This is one of the only things that the author said about how she figured out she wanted to work with the gorillas. I'm wondering if all of a sudden that she wanted to risk her life and work with the gorillas?

Making a difference

The way I can make a difference is by earning money and using the money I get to donate to a charity that will help kids. The way I can make money is by babysitting. My strength can help me with this because I am very patient and that can help me watch kids. I can start off with only earning a little bit of money once I get better at watching kids I can watch more kids and I can earn more money and donate more money.

Jane Goodall

Jane Goodall had an interesting life and an amazing job. Jane was an animal behaviorist she worked with gorillas. She grew a bond with the gorillas and they became very close. Jane had a very interesting life. Jane was a very caring and brave person. The reason she was very caring person because she cared about the animals a lot she would make sure they were okay and doing well. The reason she is a brave person is because she was only twenty seven and she went into the jungle and had to sleep there all by herself just so she can do research on the gorillas. These are only some of the traits that Jane Goodall has.

Courage for beginners (POV)

In the book courage for beginners Mysti is telling us from her point of view. This is first point of view. Mysti is the main character. It does not change in the book to another characters point of view. It's very interesting knowing what she's thinking because she has to face a lot of problems. In the book it says,"As for me, I told mama to quit changing the mural scene on my wall." This is saying this is Mysti talking because she's telling her mom something. This is how I know that the point of view is coming from Mysti.

Courage for beginners confusion

In the book courage for beginners there is a bunch of twist and turns the thing that confuses me. When Mysti enters 7th grade out of no where her bestfriend Anibal is a hipster. I don't understand how out of no where she is a hipster. How did she decide she wanted to be a hipster. Also mama has a fear of going outside. The thing that I don't get is that how did mama get it? Has she always had it? How did she go to school? In the book it says, "I came to understand that mama had something called agoraphobia." Agoraphobic is what it is called when you are scared to go outside or be in public places. These are the only confusing parts in the book that I don't understand.

Courage for beginners and Anne frank

I'm comparing and contrasting the play Anne Frank and the book Courage for Beginners. In the book Courage for Beginners the main character Mysti Murphy's mom has a fear of going outside or in public places. Mysti's mom always stays inside. When she needs something she has her husband get it. Mysti dad ends up getting really sick and has to go to the hospital. Well he's in the hospital Mysti has to get her the stuff she needs. In the Anne Frank play Anne and her family has to hide away. Anne's family has friends that brings them food and news about what is happening outside. The difference in these two reading is in Courage for Beginners she chooses to stay inside and never to go out. In Anne Frank they have no choice they have to stay inside if they don't want to get captured and killed. If Anne Frank didn't go into hiding the Germans would of found them way quicker then they did. Mysti's mom can go out anyday and anytime because she's not being forced to stay inside. These are how the play Anne Frank and the book Courage for Beginners is the same and different.

Faceless

I just got done reading faceless and it is one of my favorite books. If you are ever looking for a book to read you should try faceless. In the book she can't get over the fact that she will never be the same as before when she looks in the mirror she looks like a totally different person. Image waking up one morning and looking in the mirror and seeing a different person. Everyone remembers how she looked before and now hey see her totally different. In the book it says,"You have to learn to love yourself before you can love someone else because it's only when we love ourselves that we feel worthy of some else's love." she had to realize she needed to love herself again and accept the way she looked before she can love anyone else.

Faceless

Faceless is about a girl who got her face burned off in a electrical fire. Her face was burned so badly that some tissue in her face actually died. She is 16 years old and her name is Maisie. She has to take over 23 pills a day just to live and she also has to go back to school. The way her face was burned off is one morning she ws running through her neighborhood when a storm started to happen the Lightning hit the pole and the pool shot down fire and her burned her face and now there is nothing there but scars. In this book there is a lot of conflict. Some of the conflict is about Maisie. Some of the  conflict with going to school because no one really accepts her because she if different and she looks different. People also talk about her because her face is burned.

Genocides

Genocides happen because I think the county does not have a strong enough government to not have a genocide happen. If the countries had a strong enough government they can make a genocide not happen. The reason genocides happen is when a group don't like another group of people and they don't want them to live anymore or just want to touture them.

Anne frank adversity

I face the same adversity that Anne faced because she faces always fighting with her mom. I also fight with my mom. She also gets blamed for a lot of things and so do I. Are adversity is different because I am not hiding away and can never go outside.

Holocaust question

Many people stood by because they didn't want anything to happen to them. I probably would of sat by and watched because I wouldn't want to get killed. If you were a up-stander you were risking your life. Many people did stand up though because they couldn't just sit around watching people get killed and token from there home. The up-standers would be very sneaky so they wouldn't get caught but even some of them did get caught and they would get killed.

Compare and contrast (Firegirl and how it must feel to get treated different)

I am comparing and contrasting the book "Firegirl" and the poem called "How it must feel to be treated different". These are the same because it the book "firegirl" Jessica gets burned and she enters a new school because it's closer to the hospital. When Jessica enters the new school everyone talks about her beind her back. She does not really have friends when she first enters the school. In the poem it talks about how people get treated different from the way they look or the way they act just like Jessica. The thing that is different about the poem and story is in the end Jessica makes friends with Tom and they become really close. In the poem they are talking about how they are treated differ not there whole life how it never changes.

Firegirl

I am reading the book called "Firegirl" by Tony Abbott. This book is about a girl named Jessica that got burned in a fire. She starts a new school because it's close to her hospital. When she enters the new school everyone acts different around her because she's all burned. No one really talks to her or sits with her because she looks different then everyone else. She comes to school very late and leaves early almost everyday. Jessica came early one day to school and she was in time for the pray circle when she went to grab hands with one of the students he said he wasn't going to grab her hand because she was burned. I like this book a lot and it's a very shocking book seeing what she goes through June at because she burned. Jessica doesn't act any different then anyone else she use looks a little different and people make fun of her for looking different then them.

New Years

This year my New Years resolution is to not get falcon fouls. The way I'm going to do this is to do my homework. One other reason I get falcon fouls a lot is when I get tired or I'm lazy and I decide to not dress for gym. One of the excitied things I am doing this year is going to Playlist Live Florida Orlando in April. Also this year I am going to high school so in also excited for that too.

Fault in our stars

I was reading the book called "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green. In this book Hazel Grace is a average teenager but she has one problem. Hazel has cancer and her lungs don't work like they should be. Hazels mom puts her into a support group to help her with her problems. In the support group there is a boy named Augustus. Augustus had cancer that is the reason he was is the support group. Hazel and Augustus end up becoming close they started to hang out. Hazel and Augustus spent a lot of time together and they ended up falling for each other. Augustus tells Hazel that his cancer is back but this time it came back worst. Hazel started to go through a very hard time because Augustus was one of the closest to her. Augustus ends up passing away. I recommend this book because it shows you what people go through with cancer. It also shows you how it is to lose someone that is very close to you. This book is very sad one of the saddest books I have ever read. I very highly recommend this book.
