A world away compared to Amish people

I am comparing the book "A World Away" and the poem "Amish People" by Caryl Muzzey. In the poem it says, "without consulting their church councilmen" it is saying without judging their religion this reminds me of when people would come to Eliza's home and they would judge her and her family just because of what they believe in and the way their life style is. Also in the poem it says, "everyone lives by their church faith." I think that is powerful because people try changing people religion and this line  is saying live by what you believe in you shouldn't let anyone change what you believe in.

A world away (different life style)

Eliza was only six teen years old. She didn't do a lot of things that other teenagers did. She never made a phone call or tried a pairs on pants on or even went the movie theater. Her childhood was nothing like mine or anyone I know she never went to the park or the zoo or anything fun to do with your family. She has never talked to someone that is her own age who isn't Amish. I think that being Amish would be very different. I would like to visit an Amish home to see how it is. It would be a very different life style because if I was Amish I would be a total different person. But I would love to visit an Amish home to see the way they live and the food they eat.

A world away

I was reading a book called "A World Away" its about a Amish girl her name is Eliza. She want to see the world outside her home. One she turn 16 she will have her rumspringa. A "rumspringa" is once you turn 16 you can go out and explore. One night they were having people over so they can see how the Amish girl Rachel asked what Eliza was going to do for her rumspringa. Eliza's mom answered and said that she will be staying home and that she will not be going out to explore. Eliza wanted to go and see the modern world she did not want to stay home. In the book it says,"When we choose to be different, we have to expect a little attention." This is saying that she started to get attention because she was different and she wanted to go out to explore and not listen to her mother.

Jane Goodall

A Part that is confusing to me is that they never really said why she wanted to work with the gorillas. It only says that when she was little that her parents gave a big stuffed animal and they thought she was going to be scared of it. They were surprised when she was in love with it. In the book it says, "Friends of the family predicted the the hairy toy, almost bigger than Jane, would terrify her, but Jane was delighted with jubilee, and he became her constant companion." This means that she fell in love with the big animal. This is one of the only things that the author said about how she figured out she wanted to work with the gorillas. I'm wondering if all of a sudden that she wanted to risk her life and work with the gorillas?

Making a difference

The way I can make a difference is by earning money and using the money I get to donate to a charity that will help kids. The way I can make money is by babysitting. My strength can help me with this because I am very patient and that can help me watch kids. I can start off with only earning a little bit of money once I get better at watching kids I can watch more kids and I can earn more money and donate more money.

Jane Goodall

Jane Goodall had an interesting life and an amazing job. Jane was an animal behaviorist she worked with gorillas. She grew a bond with the gorillas and they became very close. Jane had a very interesting life. Jane was a very caring and brave person. The reason she was very caring person because she cared about the animals a lot she would make sure they were okay and doing well. The reason she is a brave person is because she was only twenty seven and she went into the jungle and had to sleep there all by herself just so she can do research on the gorillas. These are only some of the traits that Jane Goodall has.

Courage for beginners (POV)

In the book courage for beginners Mysti is telling us from her point of view. This is first point of view. Mysti is the main character. It does not change in the book to another characters point of view. It's very interesting knowing what she's thinking because she has to face a lot of problems. In the book it says,"As for me, I told mama to quit changing the mural scene on my wall." This is saying this is Mysti talking because she's telling her mom something. This is how I know that the point of view is coming from Mysti.
